I think there were a few inspiration points with this one, including: Regirock, Shadow of the Colossus, and that rock creature from Galaxy Quest. I know I could've easily done something Bionicle-related, but then that unleashes even more things to slow me down.

Anyway, the actual character can only be seen as the eyes, since it's a spirit (or spirit-like) character that can inhabit rocks & other earthy elements. Personally, I think making him a character would be interesting, but I think I'd really dislike the complication that is detailed rocks.
