blinkers are those panels that horses pulling carriages wear in order to stop things on either side of them from startling them by simply blocking them from being seen.

Wearing these, the horses walk along, totally oblivious to what might be going on to either side, other than by sound.

Conspiracy? Nah, there's no conspiracy to keep us ignorant and compliant.

Truth is, it's just human nature for so many people to stay ignorant and compliant.

...Because learning and making your own decisions is soooo tiring for some people.

... and I think that's his point. It's that way for 'some' people. Maybe even 'most' people. And for those who it's NOT that way for... it's very convenient to sorta help those blind, ignorant types stay blind and ignorant, so they do as their told without looking left or right...

Kinda like a horse pulling a carriage with Blinkers on.

It's often amazing what you can find out by simply getting up the guts to ask a straight question. Even if you're talking to a big fat liar, the direction of their lies will give you a clue to the truth. The conspiracy to keep us ignorant and compliant works only because we're too lazy to do research, and, apparently, only too happy to wear blinkers. I do not exempt myself from this.

That's because 99% of people are raised on TV. TV = GOD! What we say is truth! All bow before the big brother!

It's something we all must fight against.

How did that dialogue in The Mink series go?

"Wow! You met Savage Squirrel? He must be over six foot tall, with huge muscles!"

"More like less than five, and festooned with guns."

Or something like that.

My favorite part of this is that not only is she asking questions, she is asking the right ones. She checks his idenity (anyone can wear a costume) and then his guilt. Let's see how she does in the bonus round with the "why?"

If he did in fact specifically shoot her fiance, then what? Will she just blow Savage's face right off, or will she want Reasons? I know in most stories it's easy to fall into a trap of berating the characters for acting in ignorance of things the readers know but the characters themselves have no reason to suspect, but how could she not have guessed her fiance was out doing stupid things for stupid reasons and that those stupid things might have been of the illegal sort that attracts the lethal attentions of Vigilantes among other things?

She possibly DID know deep inside. But in the way of most people who have no one and nothing going for them, and then find someone good to give their lives meaning, she chose to not pay attention to it, and hope for the best.

And also much like those same situations, things decided to throw her a curveball. At least she seems to have the courage to try to discover the truth of things, and not just wallow in her own misconceptions, doing nothing at all.

Did Savage ask for reasons when he (supposedly) shot the guy? I'm intriged to see where this goes...
