You've got a interesting color scheme, and using grid paper to make sure things are symmetrical is a good idea. Just a couple of things to start with:
Arms usually go past the waist; I'd say the fingers should go down three more squares.
If you're using a camera to take photos of your stuff, try using an App like CamScanner. It'll let you focus just on the picture, making it easier to look at.
You should also try moving off of grid paper and just draw freehanded as well, though I figured you're gonna do that eventually.
When you do draw more freehanded, think of bodies as made up of other shapes, so arms are cylinders/rectangles, Heads as Circles with rectangles, Feet as triangles, and hands as squares with rectangles for the fingers and thumb. I'm giving you a really simplified description, but here's a tutorial that might help. I apologize if it's a bit overwhelming. Good luck!

Saw your shout (on Nusen's userpage) of "Can someone critique my art so I know what I did wrong".
My main suggestions is
1) to check if one (or more) of your local libraries have a scanner. (various libraries in my area have computers for patrons to use including some that have a flatbed scanner attached)
2) crop off more of the white-space (parts of the page that you haven't drawn on) from the jpg (or image file)
I'm not an artist so I don't have much art advice.
