Leona is the second born from the set of triplets (the first being Rafael, last being Aurora). Coming from a well-off family, Leona could've picked any career her heart desired and her parents would've made it happen, what with all the connections they had. Much to her parent's disappointment, she chose a more civil career as a detective officer and refrained from working her way around the system to achieve her career. Leona was assigned the case of Spade and his mischievous crew who would target bank accounts of the upper class for what seemed like selfish reasons. Undercover, she paid one of the most common hang out spots for Spade and was inches from busting him, until she noticed fellow co-workers drawing their weapons on him, ready to fire. Not knowing what came over her, Leona grabbed Spade by the hand and rushed for the door, helping him escape rather than leaving him to die. After saving his life, Spade offered Leona a place in his gang, reassuring her that they would only steal from the rich and corrupt to give to the poor. She accepted and took on the nickname Liquorice, sweet to some bitter to others, and also took on the spot as Spade's intel agent and lover.
