Animalympics C 185 cleanup - Rene & Kit
Here's another animation drawing that I worked with to clean up, ink, and paint within the Toon Boom Harmony software. Pretty cool stuff which has helped me learn a bit more about how to work with the pencil tool. My big gripe with the pencil tool in Harmony is the way it handles z-depth sorting which makes it a much more cumbersome chore to do colored line art. If black character lines are what you're going after then the pencil tool is pretty nifty, especially now that I have a better handle on how to compensate for the tendency to have the line intersections "break" the integrity of the line stroke. The brush tool in contrast has a much better ability to properly control z-depth sorting but it comes with a price, -the line thickness becomes much more fiddly and difficult to maintain consistency of and also requires a much more steady hand as you can't just grab vertex bezier handles and manipulate the line into better shape afterwards.
Again this image is sourced from an original Animalympics drawing in my collection and subsequently finished by me. This features Rene & Kit towards the end of their storyline which finds them making goo-goo eyes at each other.
