Been messing around with my film (yes, film) SLR camera I got from my dad a long time ago. Decided to go down to where our road used to go (the road was re-routed about 2~3 years ago). The road used to continue down another hundred feet or so and make a sharp banked left turn but now it leads to a gravel pit.
Shot in color then tried making it B&W with photoshop (don't have all that much experience going from color->BW and not suck). ISO200 film with an 80~200 zoom lense@200mm with a 2x teleconverter.

There are some others I took down in town where there is an old set of railroad tracks that haven't been used in a *long* time (there was an article about the tracks done by the town's historical society) that I went and took some pictures at. Might post a couple of them.
That's a great composition and use of depth you have here. Excellent shot! (I also grew up with a road that changed like that, up in IL years ago).
For a basic method of changing color to black and white, check out this site (not mine):

And, as a user of film SLRs, I'm glad to find someone else also doing so. Keep up the good work!

That's an interesting site, I'll have to try that method some time. The method I used was to use the channel mixer in grayscale (you have no idea how weird it is to say that in context of color being that my main background is in audio recording).
I'd like to get a DSLR but it's difficult to justify the money for it when there is still a bunch of audio gear I'd like to get too... Expensive hobbies suck.
I'm using a Sears KS500 (made by Ricoh). It's pretty fun to use because there is *nothing* automatic on it.
