Big Braider Beauty
I was digging through an old hard drive of mine and came across this shot of the Big Braider in its later days at Drexel, after it'd gotten new paint and some robotic controls. Here it's braiding what I think is silicon carbide for an experimental high-temperature application (furnace component, if memory serves).
Anyhow, it's pretty enough to be industrial art on its own. :)

See, I need one of these for building airplane fusalages using the lost foam technique. You cut the whole body out of high density styrofoam, coat it with a release agent, (I use carnuba wax) and cover it with woven fiber material before applying resin. After the resin cures you pour acetone into the body to dissolve the foam which leaves you a hollow, lightweight composite body.
Is there a post-it note on the control box saying 'Thread carefully'?
