I have a new friend to show off! This made-to-order otter has a cheery summer sun motif. Figment Familiars like this one come in many varieties, and each one has a unique Heart embedded inside its felted wool body. The Heart gives each Figment its own individual energy and personality. When you purchase a Figment, you choose the type of Heart you want inside it!
This guy was made to order and is not available for sale. If you’re interested in getting your own custom Figment, there’s a made to order listing up in the shop!

Oh wow!
Yeah, seeing from the bear and the goldie, it actually can even look matte too!
I suppose that can also be from the combined fibers too :P
I've been very interested in felting for a few years now; I even managed to buy myself a Clover felting pen too!
...though I need to wait until I can buy myself some roving and a felting mat plus some regular needles... I'm kinda broke at the moment lol
I did manage to practice a bit on a felted fox ornament we have though in the meantime! his tail was kinda unraveled a bit so I firmed it up with my needle pen. It's definitely a very soothing activity!
...Only problem is that I have a bit of a contact allergy with wool fibers, so my hands get a little scratchy/stingy feeling if I handle it for a bit too long... ;; I should probably also look into something like wearing gloves to protect my hands from getting itchy when i felt in the future

It's definitely a lot of fun when you're able to get the materials together! You can also use alpaca fiber for needle felting if wool is an issue, but it is harder to work with and doesn't make for a very solid core. I've heard you can use polyfil for cores, too, but everyone I've talked to didn't like it. Gloves are probably the simplest option! If you want to see some demos, I stream 4x a week while I work and would be happy to talk through some of the basics :) I stream Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon-1pm eastern, and Thursday 7-9pm eastern on Twitch - I post here when I go live, and the link is in the description of most of my photos!
Alpaca fiber and gloves!
Very true! At a local greenhouse, they sometimes have Farm Fiber Days as part of their seasonal farmer's markets. I have yet to check it out, but I'm certain a vendor might have alpaca roving for sale!
I dunno if I'd use polyfil as a core though;
I've seen a girl on YouTube build up a core using white roving (though i might just also go for cheapo roving that no one will see since it's inside)
Sounds good too! I'll look into it!
My computer's a bit wonky with Twitch sometimes though.
I usually can't ever get chat to work and after a while the stream will putt out, but I'll see what I can do! ^^
