"Hosts" as a term is mostly used by people outside of hives. Internally, a lot of groups have started using the term "Symbiont" for themselves. They call people who don't have a succubat "Asym” for “Asymbiotic"

**smirks** I love how that developed lately. When you created them, they were purely predatory depicted in nature, taking over people against their will (as far as I saw).
And now we have friendly hives, where people join all too willingly. That is a really lovely development. ^.=.^ Though just asking, what benefits do people have from joining a hive?
Though does evreybody also grow a tailmaw there? **confused**

I was originally harsher with my language because I thought I had to be in order to make their prosecution seem reasonable. But I've realized it doesn't matter how nice I make them out to be, some peeps will just say it's too good and actually it's terrible. But like, the third one http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24083945/ was willing. A lot of the original details are still here, I'm just not painting them in a bad light, because I don't need to.
People who join a hive gain community, giving them a lot of love and support from fellow symbionts, plus helping the queen, even if it's just by chipping in money, does noticably improve a symbiont's mental state since they're making the symbiote happier.
Not everyone grows a tailmaw

oh you meant becoming a symbiont too. You become healther, gaining fitness akin to a professional athlete (it's additive, so athletes become like, double athletes, heroes become like, a hero + an athlete), and fixing hormonal imballances, which can help with mental disabilities like depression.
Foreign material is expelled during the transformation, so any prothetics will break apart at the base, and need to be re-affixed, a smoker wouldn't have tar coated lungs anymore. Asking about HIV in particular has me thinking that like, maybe this action is tied to the symbiont's natual immune system, so benign bacteria aren't kicked out, but maybe that means if someone has HIV, they don't do the thing where their clothes explode off of their body.
Cancer would probably be eliminated during the transformation itself. You aren't immune to cancer going forward, just, if you had it, it'll be caught up in the full body makeover.
And as for future diseases, their body is healthier, and therefor more resiliant than it used to be, but they are still succeptable to getting sick.

Oh wait...you mean people can become part of a hive, yet not get a succubat attached to their hips?
And wow...that all sounds like just pure bonuses to join a hive. Though I was wondering, now that it seems how your hives evolved, do the symbiont people still feel the strong need to change others? Or was that feeling now muted over generations, making hives more calmer with this feeling?

You can become a symbiont without joining a hive. And you can help out in a hive without getting a succubat, but if you're caught you can be considered just as bad as the hive. Getting all the downsides for no upside. Similarly hives can be suspicious of asym allies, because they can just, stop or leave whenever.
The downsides are almost all social. Succubats look different, have a lot of old bad reputations attached to them, and rogue queens do totally happen (even so, sometimes they're stopped by OTHER hives). It's like queer prosecution. "We can't have them near or kids" "We don't serve succubats" etc. Succubat hangouts can get raided and bust up. Some places kill any symbionts they find.
You know how aggressive new parents are about you needing a kid too? Dieters about you trying out this diet that helped them? Mac users about Apple products? Meat eaters about how you need to eat bacon? Symbionts have that. They've always been like it, but sometimes growing the hive had been required to keep the hive safe. Queens NEED new symbionts to help them eat and survive.

Sooo...those that are a symbion ( having a succubat ) but are not part of the hive...are they sort of considered...rogues? Wild ones that are not to be trusted?
And I see....the modern hives try it more with social pressure for people to join a hive, instead of forcing it violently onto them? Did I get that right?
Sorry for the many questions, just curious. ^^

No, in general hives are very happy to accept symbionts who haven't found a hive yet.
There are several reasons for a solo symbiont: they don't know where to go (some people are affected by stray or wandering bats, and don't have someone there to help), they don't want to get help, they're afraid of or biased against other symbionts, they're worried they'd be leaving loved ones forever, they mistakenly think succubats have a hive mind that will incorporate them if they get too close. Or the only hive they know contrasts too much with their ideals / they really don't like the queen and hive community.

The same way as the people attacking them, hiding, running away, fighting back, weapons, traps, plus there's the big hulking crown crabs if they have any, and queens are very big and reslient too. Additionally, if you turn someone into a symbiont maybe they'll question fighting your hive, or at least all their allies will reconsider fighting alongside them
Succubat symbionts are all stronger, faster, and healthier than asyms, tho, that doesn't really matter too much in the face of better guns and body armor

Oh! Sorry! Didn't mean to startle you. Please, feel free to continue observing. Though, unless you are looking to join you may want to--um--guard your backside. We do try to keep the little darlings contained but...things do happen.
