Ripped means that a person's muscles are so well developed that they bulge out as though it is 'ripping' through the body to stick out. Imagine if one were to get some balloons and press them together till they are squezed outwards. It can also be viewd as a cross between beefy like a body builder, and shredded like one with little to no body fat between the muscles and skin. A shredded body would have even the indidual strands of muscles showing in some cases.
