Rarely, bats can deviate from the norm. Sometimes it's magical in nature; fiercer forms, breathing underwater, digging, fire resistance, etc. Othertimes they're less elegant changes; like deformities, disabilities, or conjoined twins.
If they were just sent out into the wild to find hosts on their own, they might fall prey to predators, but many hives keep them as pets, caring for them, givng them a chance to maybe even find a host.

Ok, so, the proper answer for how much it hurts: "It's like realizing the whole universe has robbed you of 25 years of your life, and you never got to be a kid"
But yeah basically it's a harsh sharp pain, and very quickly, the symbiote will kick up endorphins and stuff so the host can get over the pain and be good again.

That was obvious, seeing as how they bind by stabbing those sharp looking legs at the base of their spine and mutate their mass like the American werewolf in London transformation on steroids. . . . . .which probably describes the hulk transformation I was also going to mention. XD I am surprised there is little blood drawn from the back latch, honestly.
Explain the "It's like realizing the whole universe has robbed you of 25 years of your life, and you never got to be a kid" example to me? You mean like for people who did not choose to become this just before the transformation is complete?

Ah. An Interesting perspective of becoming a succubat creature, Also I must say I find some amusement seeing their pained expressions, more so the ones hanging out with them. They think "Ah! So cute and adorable and AAAAAAAAH! OH MY GOOOOOD!". They are fortunate the creatures evolved endorphin rushes, other wise those initial thoughts would be replaced by long hours of pain with perhaps regret and tears before it subsided. Something tells me many people do not know how bad it feels to have sharp pained nerves in your spine and do not think about it, only "Oh my gosh! I want to be a succubat", but I suppose the aftermath is worth it.
Well, I've seen a couple images where the "recievee" is upset. scared and so on.
Negative reactions from the ones in the image? I am possibly reading too much into it. But it' seems one loses their sense of self, or atleast part of it with the bodily change. They act and do things differently.

So in every sequence, the middle panel where they're changing really hurts, and the third panel is always the bat pumping them up with adrenaline and endorphins so they can get over that pain, and feel good about themselves.
The person changing still has their personality, morals, memories, and all the stuff normally associated with the self.

They're mostly stuck that way. Shapeshifters exist, and just treat the succubat form as the new default, and unless actively hiding succubat features when they change, they'll still have those.
What Succubat Symbionts DO have going for them tho, is that they live in a world of furries, and can just like, wear clothes and disguise their tail. Maybe wear makeup/dye their fur. It sucks pretending to be something you're not, but it IS an option.

I'd totally try it out then, Aslong as i can switch back to myself. It's pretty interesting then, But i guess i was a bit concerned with those who cannot change once they have been, Sort of makes me feel they lose their original self. But i'm overthinking it. hah.
Thank you so much for explaining things to me. It really has helped! Peaked my curiousity to see what one would make me look like.
