That's true in a lot of cases. My favorite metal band, Blind Guardian, started as thrash.
Haha, I know all them. I used to really like DragonForce but not as much anymore. Still really like their first two albums though! I get you on the fantasy element. It can be super cheesy at times :P
Give Demons and Wizards a listen to if you haven't already. It's Iced Earth and Blind Guardian's side band and they're a cool mix of power and thrash.
