So, I've got this game, see? And it's called City of Heroes. And I have this hero named Gloria Black. She is very tall, and very strong, and very tough. Which means she's an invulnerablity/super strength tank, for those who care. Her costume, unlike most of my other heroes and/or villains, is quite simple, and, so, I can draw her without reference. Thus, I have done so. Here she is battling Hydra tentacles in Faultline. I used reference for the tentacles. Hydra tentacles are ugly.

I assume the hole in the one 'head' of the one poor tendril is after the esteemed Ms. Black punched a mudhole in it, aye? I like it, especially the quasi-pirate vibe she has going on. I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark ally. ^_^
By the way, have you or Rajani checked out Champions Online at all?

You assume correctly, good sir. And it's not really a pirate vibe, per se. She's just wearing a bandana or whatnot on her head.
Also, no, we have not conducted our own investigation into that particular game. I know someone who did, though, and the things I have been hearing have not been good.

I figured, actually, but it certainly gives her that look, which I imagine isn't entirely unwarranted.
As for what you've heard, if they were something along the lines of 'first patch made the game too hard' or something like that, beat the person in question soundly with the nearest trout, since that's a line a lot of people love to parrot about, and it's complete bollicks. Me and Necros have been having a lot of fun with it ourselves, though we don't know the exact point where I pointed out to her that it was being released, and we were signing up for the 'lifetime subscription' plan.

Well, I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'loot drops'. If you mean in terms of equipment, no, it's quite a bit further from that than WoW, and I say that as a longtime 'endgame-raider' now. If you mean items you need to loot for quests, then... well, maybe, but I've yet to come across a quest that was really nasty.
Also, I asked Necros about this, since they've played both CoH/CoV (on the free trial) and now CO, to see what they thought, and this was their response: 'If anything, Champions IS CoH/CoV with just a very minor loot system put in that is on par with the enhancements ye got from CoH and you can pretty much get said loot rather easy from drops, quests, and crafting.'
If there was a free-trial going on (which I'm not sure there is or not right now...), I'd definitely suggest checking it out, but that's my opinion on it.
