I reworked her. Again. Though people here don't really know about her anyway, so that's okay. ;) Sonic fancharacter.
In the earlier days of the Acorn Kingdom's robotics program, they tried to fiddle with artificial intelligence in more than just a cosmetic fashion. The problem they encountered with it was that this required far too numerous situational calculus for them to program in any number of lifetimes. So the simple solution was to make a powerful logic engine and run it against various situations. After programming in the nuances, language and hard set rules, the team realized that they would have to let the diagnostic program run for years even on the fastest system they had. Disheartened, they activated the program, put the single terminal under a tarp and forgot about it, in favor of the much sexier technology of the roboticizer.
However. Due to their forgetting, Robotnik's negligance and Snively's uncaring nature toward shutting off power meticulously toward all old buildings in Robotropolis, the program completed years later. And thus, what was to be the first thinking machine, Lynne, awakened.

Interesting, The origin makes sense though, and I like the general idea [I had a similar character before, though he was both built like a human (Originally from Palladium's After the Bomb earth) and built for combat. I later played him in an actual AtB game, and maaaan were the guys who made him mad when they found out instead of fulfilling his programming [as an assassin] he was pretty much knocking boots with the exact beings (literally) he'd been created to kill.
Okay, This is insanely complex, but here it goes:
Most of my very early characters were dimension-hoppers, partly because I thought alternate realities were *really* cool, and it gave me an excuse to have my characters in my favorite TV Show, Comic, or video game universes.
Originally, Nikki was the result of my character messing around with his dimension-hopping tech- the reason was complex, but the net result was he accidentally yanked into existance duplicates of all inanimate objects in a 50 Meter radius from alternate dimensions- Not just copies, but dimensionally unstable duplicates cobbled together from aspects of all nearby dimensions- While almost all of the devices were powerful and useful, they were unstable, and the more you used them, the more more likelly they were to collapse in a buff od logic, the "Echos" returning to thier own dimensions, liek rubber bands snapping into place.
The most signifigant proved to be the duplicate of NICOLE, who proved to be sentient- Though Tragically with a short life span, as the materials that made up her conciousness could essentially vanish at a moment's notice, so my character started seeking a way to save her.
Eventually in the Star Trek universe, he discovered there existed an android with a perfectlly stable body, but a collapsed Neural net- and with Permission of her farther, my character managed to save the second Nicole (Now known as Nikki) from discorporation be downloading her AI Matrix into the nonfunctional android (I had a cool down-to-the-wire scene where the NICOLE casing vanished just a aseocnd after we finished the upload- and yes, in case you couldn't guess, the Android was Lal, and the father was Commander Data)
She became my character's companion for some time after that, picking up weird and amusing details during their adventures after that. Most notable was that, Like Lal, she didn't immediatelly decide on an outward appearance- she eventually chose to look like Akane from Ranma 1/2 who we bumped into during our adventures, and she liked how she looked, and later got a Samus-Aran like powersuit.
Eventually, though she decided she wanted to go back to her plane of origin,a dn help the MObius fight thier oppressors- but that's where the story ended for OOC reasons, however.
