Had some art done before, of a pouched Totoro, which was cute and all. Then, some time later, I was made aware of a short sequel to My Neighbour Totoro ('Mei and the Kittenbus' for those curious, but it was never released outside Japan), in which one thing I noticed was there was many more like Totoro, which got me thinking~
This is the result of said thinking. A Totoro OC~ This here is a distant relative of sorts, around 3-ft taller than Totoro himself. He's unique, by his pot-bellied shape, pouch and distinct markings~ Arrows pointing to the pouch, as if to say 'get in' and speckles over the pouchflap for decoration~ He always appreciates company and loves to collect others into his pouch~ :)
The name I've given him, Kinchaku ( 巾着 ) is because one of the interpretations of the name means pouch which, I feel, is quite fitting
All he needs now is a good ref sheet~

It never explicitly says, but the short version is that Totoro is a tree spirit, with his designation as "Keeper of the Forest" only being that his is the oldest, biggest tree.
Which I mention because Totoro was a tree/forest spirit in Japan's farm country. IE: By forest standards, Totoro would be kind of on the puny side. So it makes perfect sense that there would be far bigger spirits from far older trees in the much larger forests of the world (like, say, the Daintree forest, on the continent where animals with pouches are a thing).
As for a name. . . Well, Totoro was dubbed such because that's what it sounded like he was saying when he hiccuped and belched in Mei's face. So, I guess, until further notice, his name is Z.
