Like a human that is connected to a higher power, that are both separate and the same?
Kinda reminds me of what I read in the Hindu texts when I was in high school. Very fascinating faith, really.

The metaphor for reincarnation is likened to a body putting on clothes. The body can take on clothes and put other ones on. But to a higher consciousness, that body IS their clothes. They are both separate beings and one being at the same time.

In the many cases of persona, it's less about reincarnation and more about manifesting am Avatar that's representative of the characters on hand. There's usually a higher power involved somewhere, but in persona 5, it's more like a declaration of intent, that moment where the characters reject the corruption of society and decide to stand in opposition of it.
