Well I've started modding my longshot
As you can see here
The first thing I did was take out the bolt from the bolt action I removed the bright orange grip from one side and replaced it with one of my small skulls.
I then removed the barrel extender/ hold out blaster and after taking apart the outer hulls I carefully cut the barrel from the gun.
I'm going to do some work to both peice to make them look more finished but so far so good.
I'm thinking of adding a LED flashlight to the underside of the Barrel extender, as a tactical light sort of deal but I'm not sure yet
Of course this is all just structuaral work so far I've got more planned before I even think of painting

I modded a Maverick, easier to take entirely apart then rebuild. But something which I think is key is to use a dremmel or some kind of sander to rub off the NERF and shield markings, and if you can give the whole thing a light rub down with wet and dry paper so paint will stick more easily.
Hell you should see some of the mods for sale on Ebay
those guys take it serous, adding the bolt springs from an ar15 to the longshot firing mechanism, swaping out the o rings and closing out the shunt valves to get the damn things to leave welts and fire over 100 feet
Myself I just want a costume prop but those guys take it super serouse
Hell I even came across one guy who modded a nerf gun into a crude air tazer

I will admit I have a soft spot for the Maverick

The Longshot, and Recon both use ammo mags and the Maverick is a revolver and the new vulcan is belt fed
but these ones are pricey
the mav is a 10 dollar gun, the recon runs about 16-17 and both the long shot and vulcan are 30
