Taking its name from the title track of Trivium's 2015 album, now I give you what is the first story of its kind to come from me - a love story written specially for Valentine's Day. Done on commission for
SaltirePhoenix for his love
Navieux, we see Phoenix's bat Nova take the orange and white fox Darren out on a date after meeting him during a murder investigation. But despite his doubts and the evening not being a ride free of bumps in the road, he finds himself becoming more smitten with the fox as the night wears on. Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! :3

Awww, how sweet. I really like the characters here. Darren lays his adoration on a bit thick, but maybe that's what Nova likes about him.
Nova's tendency to say things out loud and then recollect on them in italics is such a good choice. It's entertaining every time.
I will say the story started out a bit slow, and there was perhaps a bit too much irrelevant detail in there that had a tendency to go on for too long, but it was still a very sweet story. Happy Valentine's day.

When it came to Darren and Nova's bond, I had to go by how I'd seen them interacting as well as my client's instructions, though in Darren's case, there was only a fraction of the amount of source material as there was for Nova. And yeah, he did lay it on thick just as he does in this story. ^^ But I think you're right about the pacing. This was a problem in some of my earlier works, and ever since getting called out on it by a later client, it's an aspect of my writing I've vowed to improve. Very pleased you still enjoyed this, of course. 💙
