Chimeras use a number of compact missile tubes instead of preconfigured missile racks like the ones found on BattleMechs or combat vehicles. Each launcher has a fixed ammo bin containing ten missiles, and the launcher itself is stripped down to the basic rack itself. The entire launcher weighs 125 to 200 kilograms (instead of the 300 to 500 kilograms of a single 'Mech tube), and it's slim enough to allow a Chimera to mount up to six tubes on one torso side (depending on the missile type).
With the fixed ammo bin, Chimera missile launchers may not mount additional ammo, combine several warhead types in one tube, and the unit must mount the same type of missile launcher on the corresponding torso side.
On the positive side, Chimeras may fire their missiles even when they use jump jets (unlike battle armor), the guided warheads make missile launchers more accurate than ballistic weapons (unless the unit mounts the TAU targeting module as well to conquer the effects of complex movement), and missile launchers are the only weapons a Chimera may fire under water, provided the tubes are loaded with torpedoes.
