Upon reaching the mountains peak, the sun had fallen beyond the hills, and only the stars remained to guide me along my way. Gazing into the horrid black pit in front of me my heart began to fill with an overwhelming sense of dread. The mouth of the cave was lined with spikes, seemingly like rows of teeth belonging to the monstrous maw of the mountain. Wasting no time, I drew my blade. It was chipped, and rusted, an eyesore to be sure. Yet it would do for the task ahead. I began my descent into the core of the mountain, letting the pitch black darkness envelope me. Instantly the air around me rose in temperature, as if an animal’s hot breath were directly upon me. The bitter cold of the night air that clung to my chainmail swiftly faded, as the last of the stars light faded away, and I descended into the belly of the beast…
