tzeentch the lord of change,the changer of ways,master of fates. something like this screams it. this seems to be a wreckless pursuit of knowledge, i could see him using something like this to convert someone to his side. in fact in the grey hunters novel one the greater daemon consist of nothing but knowledge.

Math if fun to indulge in, As what I enjoy to indulge further is Time! Time is delicious! Absolutly! As some people believe time is Absolute, frankly I like to debate with them til their eyes implode or their brains melt (or til they get mad and close their minds to fun new ideas such as mere matters of accepted perception.)

...bit of a sticking point on "cultists", but I know what you mean. There was more power in numbers in those days since language was based on them. Still true with Hebrew.
I worry that I just about understood it all, including the point about maths not being within physics since it is The Ideal. Didn't know Pi was evil though. Makes me worry about Phi.

I guess the definition of cult and religion is a bit blurry, especially in those days. I always imagined that Pythagoreanism operated simular to modern spiritualism, like astrology or tarot. Greek isn't as heavily influenced by numbers as say, Hebrew is. But I see your point. There were many different religions across the globe that worshipped Maths: it seems to me that at some point all the sciences were treated like some kind of Mysticism.
The idea I had for this video was to suggest that Mathematics are abstract and only represent the real world using an arbitrary system of rules. I use Pi to suggest that Maths holds the ultimate truth, but Scott suggests that their values are meaningless. I wrote this four years ago, my understanding of Maths now is much better- I probably could have made this videa a whole lot clearer.
And the Golden Ratio is one cool daddio!

I feel it's the other way around with science and mysticism. Chemistry came from alchemy (and almost went back when radiation was found). I'd say all science is just an extension of the older ways.
And yes, Pythagoras did a lot of things similar to modern occult groups. I just don't like the word "cult". I see it as meaning "A bad religion".
