Hmmm... I suppose that's possible. It does look an awful lot like some material I have that I've been told was from near Auburn, but both could be true.
There are some cool things near there. There are a lot of rhombohedral feldspar crystals in and weathering out of the granite in that area, and I've found agate amygdules and petrified wood near the pass.
