A peculiar, fluffy desert critter related to the fruit bat. Nobody knows about their origins but they have existed for as long as anyone can remember.
In the wild, they are seen as a boon by travellers as their excellent senses can locate even the most remote oasis - which they always do when they spot caravans and adventurers. Because trees aren't common in the desert, they walk a lot and only flies to reach the top of cacti or escape predators. They still have a tail to help stabilize their flights during harsh weather, and their back paws are adapated to the sand. Because they are naturally very tame and curious, they also make for great exotic pets, very easy to care for. They usually eat cactus flesh, fruits and flowers, but they will eat any kind of fruit or veggie presented to them.
This particular flying fennec was rescued by Wayrra during one of her urban sorties in Normag. She brought it back home and everyone agreed to adopt it, naming it Chance soon after.
