Czech rep. - in times of communism, Russian language was mandatory for our parents to study because they graduated from it.

Actually considering the fact I am Slav, it is easier to understand Russian just because when I listen to Polish or Russian speaking, I can recognize some meanings and similarities in pronounciations like those in czech words.

Fun fact: Russian was mandatory in the eastern part of germany for a long time. Now almost no one speaks it if they aren't in some form heritaged by russians
