Tomatoes, folks will eat. It's zucchini that's the issue.

Old New England joke: a fellow got so irritated with how much zucchini was left over from his harvest, that he put two bushel baskets in his car, and parked the car, hoping someone would break into it. Someone did. And left three more bushels of zucchini.

I kind of like zucchini. Actually, I prefer it to other types of squash.

Many folks in my part of Connecticut like zucchini, too. It's just that when there's a supply of that vegetable that could conceivably last until the Second Coming, that's when you have an issue.

In the last two panels, Vicki appears to be cooking up some sauce. That's a lot more work to go to get rid of surplus tomatoes, but home-made sauce is so worth it.

Personally, I'd make salsa. Fast and easy and nummy!

Yeah, Vicki, that's why home gardening is a dying art. It's also why I got rid of my juicer, I calculated that one 12 oz. glass of home made orange juice cost me over $5.00. But, I will say that, if I could afford it, I'd much prefer home grown vegetables than mass produced.

Tomato sandwiches, toasted tomato sandwiches with mayonnaise. A bit of cracked black pepper, works wonders.

is good with mushroom and tofu and thai noodles.
well its one of those things that get all its flavor from what you cook it with, in and how.
which for me, are things i like better then most if not all kinds of beans.

squash of any kind are, i have to admit, not the first things i think of when i start to get hungry.

and i did grow some once upon a time, and it was at a time i didn't have a whole lot of anything else.
