Ar'reiva is a demon, native to a noneuclidean dimension known as "Hell" by human (and, once upon a time, Martian) scientists. While Hell and its demons have had a shaky relationship with the "mortal" world due to "mortal" experiments in teleportation causing the dimensional equivalent of nuclear explosions in Hell, a period of understanding and tentative collaboration was eventually reached.

Ar'reiva acts as a cultural envoy and advisor- she's not a proper diplomat, but she works with smaller organizations and corporations to help them understand her culture better for the sake of smoother relations during larger-scale dealings.

Like many demons that interact with mortals for extended periods of time, Ar'reiva has developed a strange sort of empathy for us- she sees us as weak, helpless animals that would benefit from her strict compassion and control. Many influential demons form "cults" of dedicated mortal followers who submit themselves fully to their demonic master and act as its hands among mortal circles; Ar'reiva takes a slightly less formal approach to the whole matter, cultivating casual lovers and favouring those who become infatuated with her, eventually "binding" them to her through the implantation of demonic cybernetics and tiny pieces of her soul that allow her to take possession of them at will.

She doesn't have any need nor reason to, usually- but the capability is always there, a reminder to her "pets" that they've willingly submitted the whole of their being to her care and control.
