I have the latest information from the incident. The person who initiated the warning has had previous smaller incidents in the past where he had difficulty separating drills from reality. Additionally, he has taken extended sick leave after the incident and refuses to cooperate with investigators trying to to understand how things took place and how better to prevent them in the future.
Currently he has been terminated from his position and is without work. My prognosis for how someone so inadequately suited got such a job? Cronyism, but that happens alot in Hawaii. Most of the good jobs here come through social networking with friends and who you went to high school with. Therefore, if he was not qualified for the position, how did he get there? A friend or family member possibly.
Let us not forget the panic that this man caused. Incidents within the 38 minutes of chaos include:
A man nearly dying of a heart attack and being successfully resuscitated.
Parents shoving their children into storm drains to protect them from the attack.
People calling relatives on the mainland to tell them goodbye for the final time.
Several non-fatal traffic incidents caused by speeding from people rushing to be with family or get someplace safe before the missile arrived.
And finally, a brother and sister decided to have incestuous relations as their final act of life. This has yet to be corroborated given that it was a post on 4chan shortly after the all-clear was issued, and we all know to take posts there with some skepticism.
