The internet should preserve memes and use them a lot less often.
Everyone using a single meme way too much has bad effects on it, such as it getting learned by 'normies', which translates into getting lots of overexposure. Once a meme is way too overexposed and is basically fucking everywhere, no one wants to even glance at it anymore, not even the 'normies'. Thus the meme rots away to time. After just a month, or two if you're lucky, no one will use it unironically ever again.
