I can confirm as a former sailor myself (Navy HOOYAH!) that we would always have little contests to settle rivalries, especially between departments. Sometimes these little contests devolved into dumb shit. Often, they would somehow inevitably evolve into some sort of drinking game/contest. And when that happened, it almost always devolved into dumb shit, and don't for one second think that the officers were too high and mighty to not be right there in the middle of it and just as plastered as the rest of us enlisted folk.

There was that one time, with the 'virgin' olive oil... ;-p

Nice use of military lingo, I have almost never seen characters outside of your comics use that kind of language accurately. Most attempts by people to articulate like that make their comics FUBAR because of misconceptions or the wrong use of the word. I’m guessing it has something to do with your proximity to Parris Island, but I may be wrong.
