As a writer, I can 100% guarantee that this is what the process of editing is like. It's a process that feels like slowly leeching the life out of a work, but when you're done, you've discovered you've removed unneeded mass rather than the life-blood of a thing.
This is, by far, one of my absolute favorite commissions.
