The Youngest Child of the Diamond Authority, Pink Diamond was a Gem that White had made with only one purpose; a purpose of Insignificance to the Authority: to simply exist and do nothing worthwhile. Having already been stripped of her other Emotions to reach Perfection and using them to create the other Diamonds and to give them purpose in the Empire, White Diamond found herself in a position of instability and invulnerability since she had removed so many of her Emotions, her Aggression and Rage had been snuffed out to forge Yellow Diamond, her Reason and Empathy had evaporated to make Blue Diamond, and this had left her only left with Compassion and Love: two such Emotions that White had felt to be too detrimental to the efforts of advancing the Empire as a whole.
White Diamond would go through the Cleansing Ritual one last time to siphon away her Emotions into an inert Red Gemstone meant to become a Red Diamond, however a wave of sentimentality and Longing had filled into White Diamond as the procedure went underway, interfering with the process and leqving only a scant few traces of Emotion left within White as the Red Gemstone mutated its light to create Pink Diamond.
