"Joooooon ?" The voice of Janet calling for him from her room came to Jon's quite human ears. He didn't dislike being a kitsune, but he was supposed to be a human, and a human he was again, now out of his new costume. Still, even if he was savoring the moment, letting his girlfriend's call remain unanswered was bad for his relationship.
"Yes honey ? What's happening ?"
"I just finished putting my clothes back where they belong and am now ready to open my Christmas present !"
This was odd. The inhabitants of their little home already traded their presents before leaving for the holidays. she couldn't mean his present to her... As his eyes passed over his kitsune suit, he realized the truth. She meant Santa's present and bonus for their Christmas job.
"I'm coming, Janet ! Don't touch anything until I get there !"
"It's not like it will explode or anything, silly !" *giggle*
Jon quickly moved from his room to his girlfriend's, in time to see that she had already cut the ribbon around the present that was lying on her bed. He was a bit ambivalent about that whole deal. On one hand, he knew that unlike his sister, whatever she would get would not be intended to bother him. On the other hand, he was well aware that she liked seeing him in girly costumes as much as in anything else.
"Okay, go ahead, and open the present. Just... Don't aim it at me, please."
As she tore apart the gift wrapping, however, it became evident that she didn't get one, but two boxes as part of her gift.
The topmost one has "Hers" written on the lid. Janet quickly pulled it off, revealing a quite familiar outfit.
"Cool ! Exactly what I wanted !"
"You wanted that reindeer costume we wore for Christmas ?"
"Yup, that FLYING reindeer costume. And I didn't want it only for me." She pulled the box away, revealing that the second box has "His" written on it. "I also wanted one for you ! And Santa delivered !"
"Oh, no. No no no. You won't be able to make me wear that silly costume again."
"It's not the same, anyway. No glowy nose for mine. And, of course, no fake breasts for yours."
Jon almost changed opinions on hearing that last sentence. But still. He told himself never again, and so that meant never again.
"No means no. You won't be able to make me change opinions."
A few hours later, in the sky above their city, a pair of figures clad in reindeer costumes were running, prancing, leaping and dancing around, leaving trails of snowflakes behind their hooves, the sky their plaything.
"Okay, so I was wrong."
"About what, Jon. That I wouldn't make you change opinions, or that this wouldn't be fun ?"
"Well, the first, mostly, and I don't remember ever thinking the other."
"So you are loving it, too ! This is awesome !"
"I know, right ?" Jon was prancing alongside his girlfriend. He extended a glove-clad hand behind her, and said : "By the way..." He touched her back with her hoof-like hand. "Tag, you're it !" Then took a dive.
"Ooooh you ! You bet your currently fluffy-tailed butt that I'm gonna get you !" Said Janet as she dove after him.
The aerial ballet of them chasing each other and running was quite a sight, and the main sounds was their happy, childlike laughter and the jingling of their collar of bells.
Well, this is it finally. I finally got the follow-up to that picture from last year. Commissioned, like the original picture in that series, from the awesome
