Description: Mantyke are very intelligent, curious and popular pokémon. They live in all warm shallow seas, usually near coral reefs. When it is time for them to evolve into Mantine, they swim out into the open see. Curiously, Mantyke only seem to evolve in the vicinity of Remoraid, which eat scraps of food, dead skin and pests from Mantine-wings. Because their mouth and eyes, as well as the camouflage spots on their back, resemble a smiling human face, they were considered by many cultures to be the reincarnated souls of gentle people. Their new bodies were either a gift from the gods, so that they could swim freely and joyfully forever, or it was the result of being given the task of preventing children from drowning. It was believed they were immortal. The spots on their back differ per region. They are one of the major attractions promoted by tourist companies for sea tours and scuba diving. Because of their curious nature, they will come close to humans and even exhibit playful behaviour. This indicates that they are fairly intelligent creatures. They sometimes jump out of the water. They eat plankton and other small animals. Their ‘wings’ are not very flexible and until they evolve into Mantine, they’re not too good at stearing, preferring to swim in straight lines. When they do have to turn, they stop, then gently drift into their new direction, and start swimming again. Its 'antennae' were long though to help guide food to its mouth, but recent research suggests they help Mantyke detect changes in the seas currents. This may help it to determine where plankton is or will go.
I spent a lot of time researching manta rays (which are cool) and in the end, it still ooks like I just drew the game sprite and added gills. Ah well. Better luck next time.
