This is Nykyrian, my Vernid.
He is named after a character from one of my favorite book series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Nykyrian is mated to my female Vernid, Kiara. For those who know the book series I refer to will understand why.

I only own a handful of her books and they are all out of order for me. I have read Born of Fury twice. I literally just started Born of Night a few minutes ago.
Born of Night is supposedly the first book in her League series. Born of Furry is like the 8th book in the series. I really love the way she writes though. You can grab any book of hers from any series in any order and you can easily follow along with the plot of the story and the idea of the universe they where in, along with past events that have kinda happened. But ya you can pick it up and not be lost having to find the start of the series and just enjoy the book for what it is. The only thing that might confuse you is the characters. They are kinda introduced like the reader should know them already, but It seemed to flow easily.
But Ya Born of Fury I can kinda summaries for you.
So its basically about this alien creature, Dancer Hauk. (This all takes place in like a syfy futuristic universe where aliens, well different races more like. all travel in the stars and go places.) and this human assassin sent by the 'League' {they are pretty much the bad guys in the series} Dancer is pretty much this war hero, and the book takes place with him taking his cousins on this Endurance. Its a right of passage for there species. So the human is sent in to pretty much get intell on him and yada yada yad stuff happens and she and Dancer pretty much end up getting together and yaaa. lol I'm trying to stop myself from pretty much telling you the whole story.
But ya re-reading it there is a deep meaning about family in that book. When I first read it I didn't notice that theme to much. There was always a 'You can overcome crap' kinda theme going on. Mostly because Born of Fury was taking a look back into the pasts of the two, and this book (after reading on her website and learning) takes a more closer look at the Andarion culture. (Andarions being the alien race Dancer Hauk is.)
I adore the author and would highly recommend her. Though I do have to warn you, and anyone I tell. She dose tend to have NSFW scene and innuendos in her stories. Though to be honest, after read reading Born of Fury, its not that big of a thing as some people have made it out to be. out of the 600 or so page book of Born of Fury, there was only like 2 actual sex scene and they barely lasted a page and a half, then if you count it, there are scenes after they had sex and are just laying in bed.... But I came from a more teen based read into these, so I can see how the younger audience can over do it. Though I hate seeing it under the romance section in some stores because I really wouldn't call it a romance book. Its more of an action to me with a love interest in it. .... I don't know how to describe it to much.
But ya if anything pick up one of her books yourself and give it a read when you have the chance.
Ohhh here is her Website if you would like to do a bit of looking.

You can read up on some of the series there. They probably give a better summery of the stuff then I do. lol

Cool! Thanks so much! I'll have to check those out.
Tbh I can judge books that are placed in our paranormal fiction area
a tad harshly as most of them are romance plots pretending to
be something else. xD haha. But this sounds more action/sci-fi
Which is way more up my alley. Not that I mind a little romance or
NSFW content now and again, but most of the plots of those books are so similar & I get bored!! It's always nice to get the opinion of someone with similar tastes! ^-^

lol well I hope you like it.
TBH I picked up Born of Fury without even knowing it was going to have any NSFW content. That in my first reading of the book caught me completely off guard. I am use the the innuendos and a bit of snuggling and kissing in the other fictions I have read, but that I didn't even expect was coming from reading the little info on the back of the book.
I got that book from Walmart, so I don't tend to look at there little blurb sections since people don't tend to put anything back where they found it, and mine was the only copy on the shelf at the time. If a cover catches my interest i will read the back of the book to see what its about, and I pretty much guessed there was going to be a 'love' interest. But I was mostly expecting the action and adventure stuff I'm use to with my other books. And I wasn't disappointed, but the nsfw content did hit me by surprise. lol
And I understand getting other opinions on books. I am called the Librarian by my friends. lol I own probably over 500+ books all hidden in different nooks and cranys of my room. I am the one my friends come to for a good fiction book.
I'm kinda mad at myself that I haven't picked up a book for about three years. I have so much catching up to do now. lol But hey I might just bug you for a good read or two now. Since you are a clerk at a book story, now I have the latest news on what comes in. lol but no I really don't mind talking books more, I lost all my reading friends years ago and now most of my friends are the video game type, and I don't mind that. But I feel that is a bit of the reason why I haven't picked up a book in 3 years.

I can def underatand that. I think just about everyone I know has gone dry book wise for a while. I think of it just like art block, it's just a thing that happens in seasons, same as anything else in our life. We may hit a reading "winter" for a while but there'a always something new or undiscovered or even rediscovered to rekindle that flame. Recently I got into some graphic novels & I've been devouring them s quickly as possible ever since. My current obsession is called Saga by image comics. It certainly has its visual NSFW content but it's not all unneeded. They usually use it to show vulnerablility or make a point. It's about two races, the winged people from landfall and the horned people from the planet's orbiting moon called Wreath. They are bitter enemies and they've dragged half the galaxy into their war exporting their battles to other loyal planets, moons, even comets. The story mainly follows a young couple on opposite sides of the war who have come to love eachother despite what they've been taught. It also features a lot of themes centering around discussing racism, family and lgtbq+ issues, which is pretty cool to see! The series has been called Romeo and Juliet in space...bit it's a lot more than that too. That's what got me back into reading. As for the best regualr book I've read in a while, it's called Ready Player One. It's about a future world where everyone is hooked into virtual reality. All money, school, work ect almost exclusively exsists within it. There's also a massive gaming platform inside. The creature of the game left easter eggs inside the world he created. They're all keys to unlocking secrets of the game world itself and advancing to the next level of the game. Whomever completes the tasks set in the game by thw creator wins control of the current world and everyone is competing, greedy coorporations and brave individuals too. It's an awesome book! The best of both worlds too, something maybe your gaming friends would be interested in too?
Those do sound interesting. I picked up a novel when the series first came out, right before my 'Reading winter' (if I may borrow your term). Its called 'The Eye of Minds' Its by James Dashner. The Maze Runner author. And its pretty much a virtual reality world that this kid wakes up in and finds himself trapped in. Its been so long since I read it so I can't give you an overrun on what happened. But it was a good read. I'm probably going to re-read a lot of my old series, but i would like to get my collection back up again. lol I am sssssssssssooooooooooooo behind. The Warrior series by Erin Hunter has sssssssssoooooo much more to it then when I left it. And when I left I was pretty much caught up with almost all there cat series, and just starting on there dog. Since there bears second series wasn't out yet. and now they have some series out about African animals. aaaaaaaahhhhhhh i hate that I fell behind.
And out of the 500+ books I have I have only read about 150 or so of them. I feel so bad, but hey I can't say I don't have anything to read. I think with some of them though I need to eas myself into them. I went from the Warriors and her animal series to Spirit Animals (A collection of authors worked on them) and moved to books on dragons. and so on and so forth. But right now I do have to say I love the futuristic worlds. I love any world really, But I take ideas from what I read and apply it to RP as well. (I love D&D and all that jazz) And I find the futuristic worlds really entertaining. You can have really advanced civilizations and then go somewhere else in that universe and fin the primitive stuff we use and call our homes today. and so on and so forth. I had created a world, where my main OC comes from. Where you can go anywhere and the setting can change of the city. There can be a steampunk town, or an old medieval castle, all the way to the most futuristic city, or modern day town. I love it because it allows for pretty much any character of any background, from another player, to easily join. And as a traveler there is almost always something new you can expect to happen. My OC, since this is her home world, adapts pretty well with the changes. (And If I am being honest her background dosn't fit, Time period wise to earths. She was made in a lab, but pretty much grew up in the medieval and renaissance era of Earth. So after that realization and the fact I have always played her as being part of this weird world of all different time periods it just seemed fitting to flesh that world out and make it her own.
lol I just got off on a major tangent, sorry.
