So I am sick with the flu atm and figured now was as good a time as any to start on a Raptor Base!
Still a WIP. I am trying to make the style of this base rather neutral. I am more comfortable with toony suits but I know a lot of folks would love to have a realistic raptor base on the market. I am trying to make it so that this base can be used for both! Add flat/follow me eyes for a toony look or sculpt some scales and install some round, realistic eyes for a more fierce, realistic dino!
CONSTRUCTIVE criticism welcome. Reptilian shapes are new territory for me. I will not be adding scales or texture to the base, mostly because I suck at it and every time I try it makes the base look really ugly and sloppy lol So I am going to stay away from that =P
I will be opening for preorders on this as soon as I decide the sculpt is up to par. For clarification, vision would be through the sinus area! And the actual eyes if you do toony ones.

You're doing great so far, you got the idea of a dinosaur down, but the issue is, is that this head does not resemble the look of a generic dromaeosaur. It actually looks a lot more familiar with a carnotaurus because of its flat, boxy shape. If you want this to look more like a raptor, it must be longer, narrower, and less of a downward dip and more straight. I am loving it so far! Can't wait to see progress updates on this c:

Thank you so much for the help! This whole time I knew something was off about it but I couldn't put my finger on it. This is a earlier version of this model(before I made it shorter for some unknown reason, I blame the cold meds addling my mind lol) https://twitter.com/WestsCreations/.....62330061881345
I'm going to take your advice and and make it a little flatter and narrower when I have time to hop back on the computer!

Oooo you had the right idea going on with the first model, but there are always lots of experiments of trials and errors! It's always a great idea to use scientific references of extinct animals rather than "Jurassic Parking" it. I also suggest making the nostrils thinner and more of a comma shape rather than rounded. Glad I could give some useful advice!
