I haven't been feeling that well sense the start of the year. Life and cold weather has been hammering hard on my moral. Its always hard to stave off depression even without the cold sapping away my energy.

Computer issues are pretty much draining me to my limits. My computer doesn't take well to updates and software upgrades, but the existence Spector and Meltdown in the news and how bad it was made me consider upgrading the comp. My poor 3 year old laptop didn't take well to the updates. The bios update was the last straw in rendering the laptop unusable for my normal needs. The cooling fan is unhinged and drives itself at speeds I didn't know it could reach before the bios update under even moderate loads. Even generating thumbnails images can cause to fan to ramp up to an hear hurting high pinch scream/whine. At the highest speeds it vibrates the laptop noticeably screams loud enough to be heard in the next room over.

I'm probably going to get a tech to look it over but it was only ~$400, pass 3 years old HP15, and running an AMD A6 2GHz so honestly not sure of the cost effectiveness of getting the laptop fixed up fully. Also there's an OS issue that keeps me from making new user accounts.

Ugh. Ranting ... Idk ... looking into investing in a new laptop so I don't have to hear the screaming demon processed fan. I can't live with youtube, twitch, and being able to browse google images for inspiration. ... I'm not even sure I can use GIMP or SAI on this comp without it going crazy and the piercing fan killing my inspiration...

I really regret updating the laptop... well its safe against meltdown i guess ... but its not that usable anymore ...

December was a good month with all the cheerful winter arts ... Now this ... I cant even accept the commission that been queued up waiting for payment ... or do the February sale I kind of was excited for ...

A glorified internet connected type writer isn't useful to me... so I'm already shopping around for a new laptop so I can get back to my normal kinds of arts.

I'm only really planning on getting a baseline model since I'm not that big a gamer ... The only game I even do is minecraft since Microsoft got rid of the minesweeper and solitaire from there OS ... the game app stuff is junk in my mind ...
