So, this is a thing. I'm going to be uploading my art! This isn't the art yet. (Unless ASCII Art counts.) This is essentially just an upload test.
It may seem simple to just upload a few (hundred) drawings, but in order to do so in chronological order, I had to do a TON of work over the course of a week.
I made spreadsheets of document locations & backups, charts of file types and contents, documents for keeping track of descriptions and metadata, a folder keep all this in, along with a few alternate upload-only versions of images, and finally... this.
ORDER.TXT, the most important by far, kept track of file dates, hierarchy, and relation, as well as a categorized TODO list of edits to perform, render settings and resolutions where relevant, and PSD files to check for hidden extras.
Finding dates sounds simple, but with all the years I've drawn art for, and how disorganized I am, these files have been around quite a lot (some are on cloud services, some are on HDDs, some are on flash drives, and many have been in all of these places), so the creation dates in many of them are basically invalid. I had to use a variety of sources, including relation to other files, drive backups, copyright metadata, etc. So not everything will have a specific day or even month specified, and some files have possible date ranges. Hence, I used a hierarchy of probability structure to best build a cohesive picture, all while updating DESCRIPTIONS.TXT with relevent descriptions/metadata or notes for things to check later.
The description file was definitely the longest, and the second longest would probably be LOCATIONS.TXT, used to keep track of file locations & backup images checked, as well as a hierarchy of each individual sub-section of each file and whether or not to upload it or if undecided. That would be followed by this file as the third longest. This screenshot is from only the first day, so it's not very long yet, but it eventually reached well over 1000 lines by the end. Quite a lot to keep track of! Basically any aspect of this endeavor you can think of was pre-planned and recorded in convenient presentation format!
...Uh, Including this description. That is to say, I've written documentation on documenting the documentation, which then proceeded to document the uploading process, which included said documentation documenting document...
Oh dear. I think I may have caused a documentation paradox.
