Coco. While Ferdinand was funny and brought a good moral, I feel that it paints a cliche we have already observed. And while I loved Ferdinand, I think Coco did much better in breathing originality, had a lot more time dedicated to its creation, stood true to Mexican heritage and didn’t ply heavily on caricatures or stereotypes.

And this might be the social justice in me but I think we needed a film like Coco because it tells a story from characters that aren’t a typical look or nationality. And representation matters.

I wouldn’t be mad if Ferdinand won, but I’d much prefer Coco. If Boss Baby wins though I’m done. So done.
