it's tricky for sure! In my mind it's hard to think of what the right thing would be since most of it would probably weigh down the animal too much for them to operate normally, and then like, what situations would that be good in. I usually just have to reconcile some believability because of this, unles sit's like super light attire

Well, to be fair, the griffins in Roz's alternate-Earth range from pony sized to Shire horse sized, and many of them are strong, able to haul small hanz passengers into the air.

The two basic schools of design for exojets break down as: "Big, heavy, but lots of fuel and powerful jets on continuously, giving the extra lift to keep it all in the air" or "Upgraded shieldsuit, light, but little fuel; jets are a supplement for an edge at key moments." And you did the latter with absolute panache.
