If you're healthy, appreciate your health.
This is my spine. It shows the difference between how a spine SHOULD look and how MINE looks. My lower discs are badly deteriorated. My canal has been squeezed into a triangle when it should be a nice spacious oval. Yet, somehow, I continue to jog, punch, kick, and take care of my family as best I can.
I may end up in adult diapers in a few years... unless I get my spine fused, in which case, that disc that's right above the ones having the problems will bear all the stress of moving. It will likely fail in 5 or so years too.
When my neurologist saw my MRI's, he asked if I was in an accident. First words. (I've never been severely injured or did anything stupid or reckless in my youth)
If you're healthy, appreciate your body. Stay healthy. I would give anything to have a healthy spine again.

Seems a wide array of people have related problems. You would think that with the current state of technology doctors or hell, even surgeons would have figured out how to counter these problems.
As a person with almost every family member having some sort of spinal problem, from bulging disks to dissolving disks, and even stuff like scoliosis (including myself), it's hell to deal with such matters, especially without having to become dependent on prescriptions to handle the pain.
It saddens me to see another person with a similar fate, and I do hope that things get brighter (or hopefully better) for you in the coming future.

The spine is a massively high risk area that is also very prone to infection. It is the high voltage lines in your body. They are very strong, but a hard enough impact (or just the right amount of pressure where it shouldn't be) is enough to disable you permanently. Why don't they have medicine? Because there is none that wouldn't cause more harm then good right now... and why can't surgeons do something? Because operating on the spine can lead to death easily from infection alone, plus there isn't anything you can put there to support the spine without damaging it in some way.
Exoskeletons have started to rise in popularity recently and could be the thing that wins out in this situation. but they'll be expensive and hard to maintain as any medical equipment is.

Do they not have the technology to manufacture artificial discs to replace the deteriorating discs? And if so, why won't they consider it? Now I am curious... I should look into this as well.
But seriously, all my hopes and good wishes are with you. Just keep on doing what you are doing, improving your health, and keep yourself healthy. I am sure there will be a way to preserve your health and keep your body from betraying you into such a fate, if there isn't any other way now.

I feel your pain, my discs are normal. However there is a narrow spot like what you have.
If there is the slightest aggravation, the slightest amount of inflimation... the pain can be so intense,
rendering me virtually unable to walk. What ever triggers my spinal cord to swell there can be so random, i
t even happened when sitting on the loo!

I've got bad spine problems myself but from laziness. I've already got a dislocated vertebate that has refused back in place awkwardly that's gonna fuck me up down the line, it's just a matter of when. Now that I am more active, I can't do as much as I should be doiung athletically at 21, so that's why fiction is great because then my fursona can go rockclimbing in different places instead of axctually having to travel and vacation there and I can write it from past experience that I wish I could do while hiking.
No matter your handicap, you're still an awesome artist dude!

KJ I can't say I've had that bad of back problems (it hurts from my job of standing nearly all day but that's normal I think? o.o) But I have had kidney stones, multiple times >.< Those hurt and even though it's probably not like your pain, just know we can all suffer in pain together! In one big grumpy moany mess of fur!
I don't know much about your position or your Dr recomendations, but speaking from a fused spine perspective, my mom had severe scoliosisin her teens. And in her late teens had her entire spine fused. This has never slowed her down. She went on to hunt in the Georgia swamps. To make week long horse riding treks across the Rockies. To play semi pro polo. To race sailboats in California. To not only compete in rodeos and other extreme horse events. But to also run a successful horse ranch. She also almost made a modeling career only to be rejected as miss San Diego due to the scar on her back. And even to this day she is a top notch nurse who is on her feet most of the day if not at work then on the ranch. Her fused spine has never slowed her down over 35 years. However she does have some pain over the years. And the vertebra in her neck have given out. Now all the vertebra in her spine are fused except 2 in her neck. At 55 she no longer does the more extreme and challenging events in horseback riding. But she still rides every day and gives lessons and more.
Just my perspective. I pray for healing for you and that the best option is provided to you.
