If I'm honest there's a lot about this picture I feel could have been done far, far better and each fault seems to be punching me in the face >.<
Despite that I must say I'm quite proud of this piece, it took a long time to do and I've been trying out quite a few new things with it. Namely clothing. Notice the lack of standard Sonic-styled gloves and shoes? I normally tend to draw footwear and gloves like that so changing the design a lot and giving Tails some clothing for his older years seemed a natural step for me if I'm to improve. And yeah, even as a teenager he's still short <_<;
The background may not seem like much but again, some new techniques were tried out here. As this was all done with my laptop's rubbish touchpad and I had no lineart to work with like I normally do, this was indeed a tricky piece to do. Sadly I still must have some references, but hey, one day I shouldn't need any.
Oh and Miles "Tails" Prower is (C) to Sega in case it isn't blindingly obvious. If I did own the rights to Tails things would be very different, I assure you. :P

I find that when I'm doing art I don't tend to notice these sorts of things that I'm putting in. Some writers say that the story writes itself and I feel that whilst art normally requires a lot of effort from me, some portions of it pretty much do create themselves, adding in expressiveness. Only when I look back on it do I see it.
