I'm in the work of watching lets plays of the other games of the series, but I started with Automata and it is imo amazing as a stand-alone game!
And I'm getting towards the end of the first Nier and... While I understand the gameplay itself is probably the worst part of it, everything about the world and story is so fascinating...
Ahah I just... Wish the fandom was larger mostly so I could ramble about how much I love it with people who would be able to do the same
