As the weather turned an unforgiving cold, Jacques and Picayune were made quite aware of how far from home they were.
"Well", Picayune began, "this puts a damper on everything".
The chameleon was usually sassy, sure, but this statement was more out of fear since she was cold-blooded. Jacques was no stranger to this fact, having been with her for as long as he had.
"Come here, then", Jacques said in a quiet voice, almost a whisper, as he sat down and held open his arms and wings.
Without saying anything, Picayune rushed to his chest, and held on tightly.
The two sat like this for what felt like hours, and honestly they didn't mind.

Just some art I did of my characters Jacques, the superb bird of paradise, and Picayune, the albino panther chameleon.
It's been really cold down here in south Florida so I decided to sort of reflect the weather with this.
