THESE CREATURES ARE SO CUTE

I didn't even know how closely they resembled weasels until I was finding photo refs on google images haha

So yeh, been commissioned to do a really cute skunk reference sheet and I CANNOT WAIT

and then people draw them with fox faces or cat faces... and are missing their soft facial features and big noses that invite to be pawed at.

I know what you mean. I saw skunks that look like foxes with extra fluffy tails...

Does no one actually look at the subject matter anynore?

one could come to the conclusion.

then again, sometimes one just isn't aware there are details that are important. for example, yesterday I got poked to the fact that hyenas have slitted pupils. hard to see with their dark eyes, but they're there. :P

I suppose it also takes practice developing observational skills as an artist.

There are things I would totally miss a couple years ago that are so clear to me now, it's pretty cool
