Oh my, I have see barns like that one. And a green truck a bit the worse for the wear that could easily have stood in for that one 30 years before I drove it. Oh well, even my old mustang is more than 50 years old now. Neither of the cars I mentioned was an automatic, and the barn like the one in your picture is where I lived for years [they are not worth converting to a house]. This brings back some memories both of people and places.
And as always very well crafted.

That was certainly hilarious . Quite the bearcat, that missus is even if she did take a bit far with the beating, but I'm sure fred earned himself a bit of barneymugging.
Okay, enough of the 20s slang...
I admit it took longer than usual to get through this one, I couldn't help but take time to appreciate the photograph at the beginning. Always had an appreciation for vintage vehicles and the ones from that era were definitely works of art.

I have no doubts at all that this has played out in real life somewhere at some time. Especially the way Fred explains his reason for making the purchase in the first place. Nicely done, Ms. V.
Myself, though - I'll be driving a truck of some kind for the rest of my days I reckon. Too dang handy not to have.

Gentle humour with more than a touch of female assertiveness... loved it. The way you capture character, time and place never ceases to amaze me. Growing up my folks had a series of VW camper vans, equally good for family holidays all over Europe or lugging plasterboard (um, I think you call it 'drywall' on that side of the pond.) Owning a convertible now, I have to make do with tow hitch and trailer...
