“This is…..madness.”
Todd sat, agape, at his most recent client’s video. Far from the “self-explanatory” comedy he was promised, the four-minute clip was devoid of anything he could edit. No narrative structure and worse…no humor to work with.
Watching it again, the meerkat was speechless; there was nothing to go on. The broken shots from the handheld camera, the laughing at nonexistent jokes, it felt more like a video threat from an insane criminal than anything else.
Giving it up, Todd deleted the video and sent in his dismissal of the project. He would have no idea where to start.

“Don’t you understand?” the snake said, “It’s your fault she’s dead.” Anger raged in the tiger’s eyes. He knew the bastard was telling the truth, but it didn’t diminish his rage. The snake sneered. In this line of work "rage" was sign of weakness. Giving into it could get you killed. “I killed her. Sure, but who do you think gave me that contract?” said the snake waiting for the moment to strike. That was the final button. The tiger snapped. Without thinking he leaped toward the snake. The snake recoiled seconds too late. He fell to the ground. Dead.
Through the Looking GlassAs he was leaving, Charon took one last look at the 'Plex that birthed him and the moon it orbited. Hades. His home. He was the first of his kind, the pinnacle of Artificial Evolution Programme. The culmination of Project Ferryman.
The Fenestration Engine kick-started, shoving him through a gash in the very fabric of existence.
The symbiont buried in the back of his neck squirmed in agony. He gritted his teeth and tasted blood. Felt wetness above his lip. His mind turned inside out.
It was pure madness. And what used to be him cherished every nanosecond of it.
