Weird as in.. not exactly like the photo and therefore not accurate as a bird? Or weird as in perhaps they used a reference or several as inspiration? It's a rather rude and odd comment, honestly. If you're implying that it's copied.. I daresay you should look closer at the beak details, the eye, the overall shape of the head -- the feather positioning, even. It's not wrong, uncommon or even questionable to look at real pictures of animals to get an idea of how feathers and body parts come together, (assuming that image was even used as a ref), and then paint your own interpretation based on what knowledge those images give you.

I'd be the first to agree that direct traceovers of photos without credit to the original is trashy and I personally find it distasteful and cheap, but this person's art is very clearly not traced. Take a look at their gallery

Anyways, bit of a minor rant, but seeing such a rude comment on someone's excellently-painted work with what appears to be a link to an image with topical similarities riles me up a bit. If I'm out of line and maybe you're the commissioner and you wanted it to look more like that strange bird or something, forgive my intrusion.
