This is a specialty made ship for a short that I'm still writing slowly....

The Experimental-Ether Exploration Vessel (X-EEV) was manufactured by Umic Industrial in 2304 for the express purpose of exploring the layers of FTL travel. Seen here scaled to the Halbert-class Cargo Vessel, the X-EEV is nearly 1250 feet long. and 500 feet across at its widest point. It contains the most advanced sensory packages and communications systems for the mission.
It features an observation dome on the top side of the ship, along with a fully stocked hydroponics center.
While there is no expectation of any sort of planet or planetoid in the Ether, the ship is fully equipped to land in many different environments; including the ability to land in appropriately sized bodies of water.
