there's not much free time. It's work and sleep for the most part. I started to really learn Blender early last year but stopped cold turkey right in June. I've been wanting to go all 3D, especially the characters. Even if I became a god at character modeling, I got over 350 characters to model. Lucking most are humanoid form but still....
I've kind of poked at it after watching how this one guy models the torso. Looks pretty cool and "easy" but it's finding time. I still need to learn the other basics of Blender.
I just wish Blender wasn't so mouse based. I haven't used a mouse for quite a few years. Trackpads are my thing now.
