One of my resolutions for the new year is to explore digital painting and color - especially in styles that could work well for a comic or other story work that would need a quick turn-around. I decided to apply color to the only Smaugust dragon I didn't give any to back then! I needed a guinea pig and the scan was right there, begging for the color it didn't get in real life. The ink drawing is 2.5x3.5 inches.

I'll be doing more experiments like this in the near future as I try to get a feel for techniques and media I haven't made use of in... maybe over ten years? It's not quite like getting back on a bike, but I am surprised how quickly I feel at home again in all of this.
